SPORTS! SPORTS!!!!

So before Wolinsky (contributor to this blog) had a Blackberry or any other type of smartphone, he used to get sports updates from this shady, hard-to-use, voice-activated, toll-free number. It was actually a good resource in a lot of ways, the biggest problem being is that for some reason the service could never tell what Ben was saying (most of the time because he was calling from parties or bars, but I digress). So when he called, he would yell "SPORTS!" "SPORTS!" into his phone. It was quite humorous. I am telling you that because it seems like such an antiquated service right now and this occurred maybe 4 years ago at the latest.
Now on to sports links:

-First of all, the Red Sox virtual waiting room is the dumbest, most inefficient thing in the world. I rather pay the Ticketmaster fee than deal with that ever again. I waited for 3 hours before I got in (and got nothing offered to me but standing room). It's worse than the DMV.

Baseball
-From Buster: • The Yankees are flip-flopping Johnny Damon and Derek Jeter in their lineup essentially for this reason: Jeter hits into a lot of double plays -- 45 during the past two seasons -- and Damon does not (nine double-play groundouts during the past two seasons). And given that the left-handed swinging Brett Gardner will hit ninth, the Yankees will go left-right-left in their 9-1-2 spots. I truly think that where someone hits in the lineup is a bit overrated as well as going lefty-righty so much. But supposedly it's worth an extra win at some point so I'm all for it. And tiring out bullpens is good too (though I'm not sure that people will be compelled to take out a righty because Gardner's out there--I love the guy but if he hits more than 10 HRs this season, we may need to test him for the juice. Still, I love their whole lineup will be impossible to bring in specialists against. Makes it frustrating for the other team.
-Scroll down to see Jeter's stats batting 1st. Makes sense. New Stadium Insider agrees and also gives news of The Boss being at the Stadium opener. Joel Sherman agrees as well (as do many others) and says to do it if both feel comfortable in their new roles.
-$19 to park in the new stadium.
-More from Deadspin on Jose Tabata's baby-stealing wife.
-This made me laugh a bit.
-Matt Bush is fucking nuts: A witness, who requested his name not be used, told The San Diego Union-Tribune that Bush was drunk that day, threw a golf club into the dirt, picked up and threw a freshman lacrosse player and hit another one. The witness said Bush yelled “I'm Matt (expletive) Bush,” and “(expletive) East County” before driving over a curb in his Mercedes as he was leaving the campus.
-Oldie, but goodie (from our comments section): the 18 best Jewish baseball players of all time (from 2007 so Youk may have moved up)

Football
-A very sad/odd story from ESPN's NFC East blog involving an ex-Eagle and a cop...the video says it all
-Plax is looking for a deal. Hopefully this means he's coming back to the team soon...I'm thinking a 4 game suspension, probably. It seems like he won't be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Supposedly ESPN is ready for an announcement.
-Todd McShay did a mock draft where Stafford does not go #1. Interesting stuff
-Jets want them some Jay Cutler. Who are they going to give up? They have no QB to trade. Maybe a 3-way deal?

Basketball
-Rick Fox is with who?!?! Wow.
-Bill Simmons better stop complaining about the management in place currently for the Clippers because, if this news is true, the LA CLIPPERS ARE SCREWED!

Hockey
-The Rangers frustrated me last night to no end. Giving up a 3 goal lead to that bad of a team? Awful!
-News: Wade Redden is disliked in New York. News: Wade Redden has sucked a big one at times this season.
