Updated Probable Pitchers for ALCS

Sam Borden posted an update from California where Mike Scioscia decided to mix up his lefties and righties and start Joe Saunders in Game 2. This makes some sense in trying to get a lefty to neutralize the short porch at Yankee Stadium, but with how good Weaver was in the ALDS, you wonder if this will backfire. Here are the updated probables:

Game 1 -Friday, Oct 16, 7:57 PM: Sabathia vs. Lackey (2009: 11-8, 3.83/career vs. Yanks: 5-7, 4.66)

Game 2 -Saturday, Oct 17, 7:57 PM: Burnett vs. Saunders (2009: 16-7, 4.60/career vs. Yanks: 2-1, 6.82)

Game 3-Monday, Oct 19, 4:13 PM: Pettitte vs. Weaver (2009: 16-8, 3.75/career vs. Yanks: 4-2, 5.88)

Game 4-Tuesday, Oct 20, 7:57 PM: Sabathia vs. Kazmir (2009 w/ LAA: 2-2, 1.73/career vs. Yanks: 6-5, 2.67)

I say "probables" because there is the threat of a postponement this weekend in the Bronx which could change the Yankees' plans to pitch Sabathia on short rest and may change the Angels' plans as well.

Jered Weaver had two starts at Yankee Stadium this year and was 0-1 with a 6.08 ERA in 13.1 innings. That may have played into Scioscia's thinking. But I'm surprised that the Angels--who really wanted to use a lefty in Game 2--didn't go with Scott Kazmir who not only has been a better pitcher for them this year, but also is much better in his career vs. the Yankees.
