Sloppy Seconds on Broadway

I'm not sure what's the problem with calling Kim Bauer "sloppy seconds" (she was with a lot of dudes on the show) or with Sean Avery, but I can't deny that Avery coming back to the Rangers would provide a spark to this team that's looked a bit lifeless in recent games. After losing two games where Lundqvist gave up 1 goal, the Rangers decided it was better to go wide open and scored 2 this game...but gave up 10. I hate to admit it, but right now the Rangers are much worse than their record indicates. They've given up more goals than they've scored, and they have serious problems finding a top 6 legit scorer, a power play, and capable defensemen besides Staal, Mara and Girardi. I'm not sure Avery is really the answer to any of those (though his stick-waving antics in front of the net on Power Plays would be helpful--more on that later).

What he is the answer to? How about the question: How can Sather further screw up the cap situation?

What happens if Avery doesn't work out? The Rangers are going to take almost $2 million in cap space for the next three seasons on a guy they can't guarantee won't get himself suspended? This team is in cap purgatory as it is. The only way I do this deal? If Dallas takes back one of the Rangers' cap albatrosses in exchange for taking Avery off their hands. I'd do it then, gladly.

For one thing, it'll piss off Martin Brodeur...and I can't think of anything more lovely (Marty! Marty! Marty!)
