I have next to no interest in seeing A-Rod's press conference. I'm sure I'll read plenty about it all day long. So in the meantime, I'll get to some other things...
-It seems we have another financial scandal with U.S. Marshalls heading to Sanford Financial Group to uncover a massive fraud ($8 billion). Supposedly the billionaire chairman blamed disgruntled workers for starting the probe last week. That's actually a pretty good way to discover a fraud is occurring. Also a good way, when they bank won't give you back your money.
-I'm still really upset by this story of the Israeli tennis player. The tournament's organizers showed no balls in their decision. They could have easily cancelled this, regardless of how many people showed up. For the woman that wins, can we honestly say that win was fair considering they stopped someone from competing? Talk about an unlevel playing field. But one group that did show some balls was the Tennis Channel which decided to drop the broadcast.
-After 19 years, the Simpsons is in HD and with a new intro
-So I hear Facebook's new Terms of Service is causing quite a stir...
-So Michael Lewis not only wrote for the New York Times this week, he wrote for Bloomberg as well. Busy man [destroying everything I love dearly with sometimes incorrect overanalysis].
-Supposedly Robert Reich dated Hillary Clinton in college? What a weird couple
-I was agreeing that Tom Renney should take the blame, not the fall for the New York Rangers play. But after how uninspired they've looked the past few weeks, maybe it's time for him to go as well. It was the same way I felt with Joe Torre at the end. It wasn't that the team wasn't winning and wasn't making playoffs...but sometimes you need to change it up to jolt guys once in a while. I vote for him to stay, but this team needs a huge shake up after their 2-1 loss in St. Louis last night.
-So it looks like Griffey Junior will be a Brave...what a confusing turn of events for this guy...
-Interesting story on a Mexican media baron
-Some good First Read points on McCain and Burris. Also from First Read, news that Jon Corzine left the state a lot last year. What did people expect? It's NEW JERSEY! The state smells. I don't blame him.
-Suze Orman is a 55-year-old Virgin!? (H/T Big Lead for a few of those)
-I met Colin Cowherd at a sports talk radio conference when I was in college. His new blog is a lot like his personality: totally trippy in a "wow, someone was on drugs when they made this" sort of way.
-A comparison of famous people quotes from the Great Depression and today. Pretty scary.
-Joe Rogan wants people to leave Michael Phelps alone too. More people likely to bother Michael Phelps after this. And speaking of Phelps, the bong owner is a rich pro poker player
-King James seems to have his head in the right place
-Greg Oden has a blog! Interesting post about when Barack Obama called him
-President Obama calls Larry Summers, his chief White House economic adviser, "Professor" and his fellow policy wonks "the propeller-heads" (H/T The Page). I just hope they know what the fuck they're doing. Also, who wins when Summers and Geithner disagree?
-Obama wants more railroads. Seems very Roosevelt-ish--Teddy Rooseveltish.
 -Oh that troublesome 2010 census!
-Wait...so Dick Cheney sucks even more? Wow.
-Crazy shit goes on in Stamford (where I work)
-This really goes against mostly everything I learned in my journalism classes about objectivity...
-Bristol Palin really doesn't think people can keep it in their pants
-24 recap by someone else besides me
 -Some more mile "high" business
-Thanks for ruining my flights, assholes.
-Sort of looking forward to Inglourious Basterds
-The economy as told by Starbucks
-Michael Strahan is getting his own FOX show. And they got rid of Arrested Development why again???
-Gov. Patterson is killing me (J/K). He's also not liked by many others.
-Another not-so-nice story about Brandeis that has sort of been swept under the rug with all the Rose Art and budget stuff going on(brought to my attention by a fellow twitterer)
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A-rod Part (since there's a lot of stuff)
-At least A-Rod had a nice Valentine's Day
-Maybe "Bud" is in reference to what he's smoking but Bud Selig doesn't believe he's reponsible for the steroids era
-Jason Stark on the Night Before A-Rod
-Tyler Kepner on another magazine cover for A-Rod
-Buster Olney has some questions for A-Rod
 -Pete Abraham gives some suggestions
 -YES is killing his Yankeeography
-Deadspin on how A-Rod didn't really mean it and that Big Papi is pretty confident or just wants a year off (just an FYI, Ortiz was talking about future offenses...not the past).
-Joel Sherman finally puts some of this A-Rod stuff in perspective (oh, the NFL has bad people?!? No!)
-Travis Hafner said he didn't do steroids. I believe no one at this point.
-Pudge is leaving it up to good, ole G-O-D
-WAIT!!! People took peformance enhancing drugs in FOOTBALL!!!! Stop the presses!!!!!
