ShamWOW!

Vince OfferVince copy
I always liked when ShamWow commercials come on TV. As far as infomercials go, it's pretty entertaining. Most of that is thanks to Vince. It ends up Vince is not just the plain, old ShamWow spokesman you see on television. I found out that his real name is Offer Shlomi, which was probably just a bit too Jewish for showbiz. So he now goes by Vince Offer. And it ends up his real "career" is in filmmaking. This is where it gets really good.
Supposedly this career filmmaker had only one movie and that movie was so bad that Anna Nicole Smith refused to start in it because it would be detrimental to her career (he later sued her for breech of contract for pulling out). I put that in bold because you have to understand how bad a movie that must be. Well that was actually putting it lightly. From Slate: The New York Post review gave the film zero stars, said it "may be the least amusing comedy ever made," and asked, "How can the War Crimes Tribunal indict Slobodan Milosevic but let Vince Offer still walk the streets?"
Now he's an "informercial superstar" selling a really absorbent towel ("you know the Germans always make good stuff"). Oh...and he's also big on suing people, besides Anna Nicole Smith, he sued the Farrelly brothers for stealing his jokes in There's Something About Mary (I can't make this stuff up). The case ended dismissed with prejudice and he was forced to pay Twentieth Century Fox's attorney fees for their troubles. And, lastly, he sued the Church of Scientology (his former religion) for calling him a criminal and persecuted him for his movie's "artistic expression", among other things (like supposedly launching a huge smear campaign).
So let's review: this movie was SO bad that Anna Nicole Smith refused to star in it because of the negative effect it would have on her career, The New York Post likened his filmmaking to a person who was put on trial for war crimes, Slobodan Milosevic, he couldn't even get his jokes stolen, AND the Church of Scientology(that of Tom Cruise fame) labeled him a criminal because of the movie. Wow.
I think that Vince should stick to selling ShamWows.
