-One of the great things about Lost is that when you figure out something before everyone else, you feel really smart. My call about Charlotte growing up on the island was that call. You could see when she splashed down from her parachute that she was glad to be back. Now we know why...
-One of the worst things about Lost is that sometimes you over-think and the answer is pretty simple (like the question to Ben last week about who the lawyer was). That was certainly evident when I said that Sun was after Jack, not Ben. I was wrong. But what that apology in the van told you is that Jack really should be the one that Sun is upset with. Why she isn't more upset with Jack (and wanted to lay the guilt on thick for Kate and Ben) is a little interesting. But I was wrong on that one and the answer was pretty damn obvious.
-So Sun is going to go back to the island (that she hates) for Jin (who she doesn't actually know is alive) with Ben (who she can't trust) and Jack (who was really responsible for leaving Jin behind in the first place) and leaving behind her daughter (who was the reason she left in the first place) with her mom (who is married to the very vengeful guy she forced out at his company)? And she's going to go that easily? I doubt it
-I don't think Ben is surprised that Desmond says that Mrs. Eloise Hawking is Faraday's mother...I just think he's surprised that Desmond knows. And if Widmore knows, why wouldn't he make her send him back? Or is that not an option?
-So that french woman wasn't totally bugging out in the first few season when she said that everyone got sick and she had to kill them. Obviously we saw why. Something happened in that hole. I love the fact that he couldn't kill her, though. She is interestingly one of those people who had to stay alive on the island. I wonder if seeing Jin in her past will affect her and/or Alex's future.
-Two questions remain about Danielle's back story. One is what happened to those guys when they went down into the smoke monster's lair? The other is how did Ben come to be Alex's "father"? But I'm glad we cleared up a few more tonight
-What did Ben do to piss of Christian? Or is Ben pissed at Christian because he gave his duties over to Locke? Was it the fact that Ben kept on coming and going from the island? That he had acquried great sums of money to get away? When Locke told Ben that Christian said Locke had to move the island, was Ben so insulted that he had to do it himself? And if he's not working towards the will of the island, what is his end-game?
-Charlotte's mom is Dharma. So that probably means she's not Ellie, the woman with the gun who brought Faraday to the H-bomb. More likely, she's Eloise Hawking, Faraday's mom (which would be why he didn't recognize her but said she looked familiar).
-Speaking of Charlotte, what I think happened at the end of her flashes is that she went to the future. And future Faraday is still time traveling, ends up in Dharma-time, warns Charlotte not to go back to the island because it'll kill her (because he knows)...and maybe to blend in he'll go help set up one of the hatches...(maybe that's why we see him down there at the beginning of this season???
-Back stories I would like to see (since I think we got the jist of Charlotte's life during this episode): Faraday, Widmore, Miles, Mrs. Hawking, Lapides, Richard Alpert, Walt, Libby (I've been asking for one on her since we saw her in the mental hospital with Hurley)
-I'm greatly conflicted with this show about looking at spoilers or not. I've now sided with not doing so and figuring shit out for myself.
-This was a really interesting episode. Although the flashes were speeding up and the events off the island were as well, everything in some ways seemed to slow down. In some ways, it took this long to get everyone all together and now they can begin again with some normality.
-Remember, the people still on the island have been flashing about for probably 4 days at this point. The people off the island have been there for over 3 years. So when the Oceanic 6 get back is almost as important as how they do so.
-And, lastly, the first episode of the first season starts with Jack's view of the world...it's not really surprising that Christian Shepherd, his dad, is Jacob, the one behind the island. What is interesting is that Jacob never bestows any powers upon his son. He gives this huge responsibility to Locke, he allows Claire to come stay in the cabin, he allows Hurley to see the cabin, etc. But Jack gets nothing. In the end, though, it makes sense that Jack and Aaron (Christian's grandson) will have to come back to the island. But who is the leader of the group? Jack? Locke? Sawyer? Ben? Christian? Richard Alpert? It'll be interesting how this all plays out.
