I felt it best to start you off with a joke:
No, not that...
What is the capital of Iceland?
Answer: $25.

-Jay Mariotti thinks it was the Wildest Super Bowl. Ever. I disagree with those who think it was the best Super Bowl as the Big Lead maybe does. Or even the wildest. The truth is that besides a 100-yard TAINT, the game was quite boring for at least 2 1/2 quarters. And with the chippiness and the penalties, it seemed like it would stay that way. Didn't realize it would turn into a shootout in the end. But the real truth is that I can't even put it above the Pats/Giants Super Bowl from last year, not only for personal reason, but because I don't think it held you on the edge of your seat like last year's. You had a TRUE underdog story who no one picked to win. You had a undefeated team. You had "The Helmet Catch". Rodney Harrison is still a bitter asshole. One person from FanNation agrees with me that this wasn't the best Super Bowl ever. The truth is that it should have been a Steeler blowout. The defensive backs of both teams got tired running around after Fitzgerald, Boldin, Breaston, Ward, Holmes, Washington and others all game long. And then there were a few big scores. The last one netting me quite a bit of money (though once Big Ben had the ball, I knew they were driving for that TD).
-Other Super Bowl news: RCN Cable in Manhattan went out during the Super Bowl. Some viewers in Tuscon, Arizona wish it did as they got another treat instead: PORN. More of that PORN as it interrupted Larry Fitzgerald running for a TD (now insert your "premature" joke for all those Arizona fans who thought that sealed the game...). And speaking of nudity, how about Santonio Holmes who goes from former drug dealer (sorry, Michael Phelps) to hanging out with McLovin' to showing off his own shlong to Super Bowl MVP...quite a journey!
-Lastly on the Super Bowl: Freakonomics on "Why It's Good to Get Your Commercial Banned From the Super Bowl". I can't watch YouTube at work, but I hear this is ridic (H/T Sarah). TWoP's review of the 9 best Super Bowl ads (I'll try to get to mine later). And I don't care what some will say, "The Office" rocked. I know that they have trouble with hour-long episodes, but I think they did a good job with this one. A little bit of tension towards the end (between Jim and Pam, Stanley and Michael, and Michael and the rest of the office) ended up with a total group happiness and laughter--which is why we watch "The Office" in the first place.
-Rose Art Museum updates: First the New York Times comes out yesterday with an article stating Brandeis' "stark statement of priorities", and then pounded us down with an editorial titled "Art at Brandeis". Not good PR for the Judges. Not to mention the Boston Globe here, here and there own scathing editorial here (on this topic, should newspapers really be throwing stones when their own glass houses are failing due to mismanagement and not being able to reprioritize? Me thinks not). Or the blog world here, here and here. And check out the letter from the head of the Alumni Associate in the previous post below.
-Crap, more winter. Nice job, you stupid rodent.
-Crazy New York Times article about how even with a tougher border, we can't stop the Mexican Marijuana Cartels (though Nancy Botwin is probably partly to blame). They've been setting up shop all over the US now, after driving the trucks over the fence...just crazy stuff. Michael Phelps couldn't be happier.
-I think we're turning Japanese, I think we're turning Japanese, I really think so. Or at least this guy does in the financial sense (I don't really agree with him, but he does provide some very nice graphs).
-Well I knew the New York Rangers needed a big forward...maybe Artem Anisimov will be the answer. Now if only he could play defense...
-Cash considerations may be all you're able to fetch for Rich Hill? This guy had a huge year two years ago, he's young, he's cheap and he's lefty. Really surprises me.
-Also surprising me: Bud Selig's salary
-India is considering banning Google Earth. Many others were stopped from going to other Google sites this weekend by a "breakdown" that caused Google to deem all sites unsafe. It ends up humans, not the machines, were the problem all along.
-Looking at this awesome Vanity Fair photo set, it amazes me how young that Obama's White House is (here and here). Even David Plouffe looks pretty young in this Esquire piece, especially in this photo playing old-school beer pong.
-Can someone please get me tickets to the Dave Matthews concert at MSG? Thanks!
-Excessive Facebook chatting can lead to depression.
-I think I'll visit this restaurant in Queens that let's you name the price of your meal.
-And now that I may be moving, it's a good thing to learn that New York City rents are falling fast.
