Being able to find your kid via Google Maps is really scary. I know that taking social networking to a whole new level is cool and all. And the fact it's on Blackberry just makes BBM'ing "where are you?" obsolete (also obsolete "let me know where you're going to be tonight" or "I wasn't at that bar making out with your best friend...I was in Jersey").
But the helicopter parents or significant others factor is certainly an issue: "The PC access is designed for people who don't have a mobile phone but still may want to keep tabs on their children or someone else special".
Yeah...um...wow. "Keep tabs". Seems like privacy nuts will have a field day on this one. It's one thing to keep tabs on your kid. It's another to have a spot on a map tab where they are. Grandma likes to gamble away your inheritance? You can make you know when she's getting close to the casino. Same thing in relationships. Worry about where your spouse is going? Just have them put the locator on and you'll know.
I can just imagine now: "It's 10 PM...do you know where your children are? Well if you don't just hop on the PC and find out!". Scary.
