Yankees Call-Ups, an AWOL Giant Gets Found and An Ex-Giant Gets Cut

Via Peter Abraham, here are the Yankees September call ups: Here are the call-ups: Francisco Cervelli, Ramiro Pena, Edwar Ramirez, Mark Melancon and LHP MIke Dunn. I would be surprised if they added another outfielder or two (Shelly Duncan and someone good defensively, maybe Austin Jackson), some speed (Freddy Guzman?), and maybe even Kei Igawa. Brett Gardner will be back here too after he hopefully completes his rehab.

I like what they did with their call-ups, though. With the Joba Rules III limiting him to a few innings a start, they’ll need all the bullpen arms they can muster.

Osi Umenyiora was found after bolting from practice and going AWOL yesterday. Not what you want out of one of your defensive leaders, but then again, we've had some odd personalities in the past couple of years on the Giants and it turned out OK for the most part (sans Plaxico shooting himself). Funny bit here:
@TheBlueScreen While Osi was gone, his teammates put up "Missing" posters with his picture on it, offering a $1 million reward. #nyg
And sad ending for a long-time Giants Wide Receiver:
@Adam_Schefter: Chiefs cut WR Chiefs cut Amani Toomer.
Let's hope the extra roster spot left on the Giants (they pared down to 74 instead of the mandatory 75 today) means they're going to sign him for a day so he can retire as a Giant.
