Rangers 1st Period Intermission - Caps lead 2-0

Not a great period for the Rangers. They got a little unlucky when the refs didn't catch Alexander Ovechkin's stick spill some blood from Michael Roszival (it would have been 4 minutes) and it's amazing with two referees and two linesmen on the ice that no one noticed it. They got extremely unlucky when Ryan Callahan's shot went from one post to the other and somehow didn't go in. And that led directly to the 2nd goal. It would have been 1-1 and instead, it's now 2-0.

The Rangers have played a lot of this series in the defensive end and this game it's been especially glaring. The Rangers, in my opinion, need to take a run at the rookie goalie or give him a little nudge over from in front of the net and try to rattle him. He is too comfortable when those shots come through and they need to pounce on rebounds when they come out. Sort of like Callahan did, but actually score.

Let's hope for better second period results.
