[More Than] $5 Footlong at Subway

So today I went to Subway for a $5 footlong. I try to do this at least once or twice a week for lunch as there is a Subway within close walking distance of my office. Today I went in for a delicious Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki footlong. While waiting on line, I saw the guy in front of me order his sandwich. I was about to order mine when I saw him arguing with the cashier. He asked how his $5 footlong could yield that little change. The cashier pointed up to the sign that now says that only certain footlongs were still $5. The guy was so enraged he stormed out of the Subway without his chips or soda he had also bought. I then saw an e-mail my dad had sent me (H/T Slickdeals):

Details from a Subway owner...
Here are the answers to the items being discussed on this thread:
1) $5 Any Regular Footlong Promo ends nationally 4/20. Today is the last day stores are allowed to offer this promo. Some owners took the offer down last week, but most are keeping it through the end of today.

2) NEW Promo: $5 EDV (everyday value menu), which consists of 8 different footlong subs. These don't change, and will be the same 8 subs for at least the rest of 2009. The EDV subs are: Meatball Marinara, Roasted Chicken Breast, Blackforest Ham, Veggie Delight, BLT, Spicy, Cold Cut Combo and then the 8th sandwich varies by market (but won't change from what they show starting tomorrow).

3) Continuing Promo: Subway's also offering the Sidekick promo right now, and it will continue for a few more weeks. Order any footlong, and get up to 10 sides for $1 each. Sides include 21oz drink, chips, 2 cookies, yogurt, and apples. Mix and match.

4) Finally, the original post of this thread talks about BOGO next Saturday, April 25th. This is NOT available everywhere. Each store has the ability to create their own anniversary sales, customer appreciation days, etc. The person posting this thread probably saw an ad for a store (or a few stores banding together) in his area. These occur somewhere almost every weekend of the year. Keep your eyes peeled for it in your local market. Subway is always a really good deal, but BOGO days are super great deals!

The lesson is to watch out because you could be paying more than $5 for your Subway footlong
