The Yankees had 51 come-from-behind wins in the regular season and 15 walk-off wins. They were 7-0 vs. the Twins with 3 walk-offs.
So wouldn't it be appropriate that in the ALDS against The Twins, they would go 3-0, with 3 come-from-behind wins, and one walk-off?
Game 3 was won the way the Yankees have won for almost 15 years now: Andy Pettitte started and pitched great. Derek Jeter had a great defensive play. Jorge Posada had a big hit. And Mariano Rivera closed it out.
But this one had a twist that a series hadn't had since the Yankees played the Twins in 2004: Alex Rodriguez came through in the clutch with big base hits and some HUGE home runs.
You never felt like this team was ever out of it this season and that's a special feeling to have as the playoffs continue to progress.
The Yankees swept the Twins for their first postseason sweep since they defeated the Atlanta Braves in the 1999 World Series.
They now will wait until Friday to play the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim who swept the Boston Red Sox. They will have another challenge on their hands very quickly, but for right now, they can celebrate a great series in what has become a great season for the New York Yankees and their fans.
