In a blockbuster trade, the Cleveland Browns have traded wide receiver Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets, signaling that the Browns are in serious rebuilding mode -- and that the Jets are serious about winning right now.Well I'm sure this has nothing to do with Edwards punching LeBron James' friend in the face this week. I can just imagine how that phone conversation went:
Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported the trade. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports later reported that the Jets sent two draft picks, wide receiver Chansi Stuckey and linebacker Jason Trusnik to Cleveland.
LeBron: "Can I please speak to Browns owner, Randy Lerner?"
Lerner: "This is he"
LeBron: "This is LeBron. If you don't trade Braylon Edwards, I will leave Cleveland at the end of the year which will ruin the Cleveland economy even more and destroy your football team. Do you hear me, Lerner?!?!? Respect my authority!!!!"
Lerner: "Right away King James"
And the Jets made a move to win now. Right now. If Edwards was coming to New York, I thought it would be to the Giants. The Patriots, Bills and Dolphins all have big holes so this may be the Jets year. Big move by the Jets and a clear sign that things are going to get worse in Cleveland for the Browns. Though with his butterfingers, maybe this is a blessing in disguise for the Browns.
And for Edwards, I don't think the marriage of him and New York City is in any way a recipe for disaster...Not one bit...(waiting for implosion in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....)
