Frenchy's Quote, Strasburg, TMQ, Riccardis, and a Bunch of Other Links

A few non-Yankees links to go through:
"That was a lot of fun. You just keep pounding balls into the gap. The one thing you don't want to do is hit a home run. That's a rally-killer."
-- Jeff Francoeur, following the Mets big win over the Braves, continuing to fail to understand even the basic rudiments of baseball.
  • Stephen Strasburg signed with the Nats and Jon Heyman thinks that's a good start on the way to respectability
  • Speaking of the draft, The New York Times says that MLB should look to the NBA for inspiration on how to change the draft
  • Ken Davidoff speaks to the man who invented UZR. He does not ask, however, how the heck Mark Teixeira could be considered a below-average fielder.
  • Joe Posnanski rips on Blue Jays GM J.P. Riccardi and Rob Neyer lists some other "Riccardis"
  • TMQ has returned. All is well in the world (though Easterbrook loses me a few times)
  • They are not happy in Wisconsin. The headline of this article from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is "The Ego Has Landed". Ouch
  • More ouch. Big League Stew reminds us all of the Baseball strike.
  • The last ouch. The New York Daily News has the "All-Jumpsuit Team" (H/T Eric)
  • The Mariners just made another deal. I guess they just took all the money they would have spent on Jarrod Washburn and spent it on Jack Wilson, Ian Snell, and Bill Hall. Not sure if it's going to matter because they're 6 1/2 back of the Wild Card.
  • I wrote about this before, but ESPN the Magazine is down to $1. Crazy. Definitely worth it just for Insider.
  • Lastly, even though I hate the Islanders, this is a really nice article by Mark Feinsand
More later...
