12 Days Until Spring Training
- Joba Time! New York Post's Joel Sherman says he's heading to the bullpen and then talks about how to use both Joba and Hughes in a blog post. Jason @ IIATMS talks about this "huge mess". Craig Calcattera at NBC Sports says that they're making a huge mistake with Joba (I totally agree). David Pinto of Baseball Musings says they should both be used in the bullpen to shorten games, but the Yankees don't seem to be too excited about the idea. River Avenue Blues discusses it further. Rob Neyer of ESPN.com says they just need to pick a plan and stick with it.
- Johnny Time! ESPN's Buster Olney hammers Johnny Damon and says "he's not going to the prom". NoMass asks if there is a more arrogant player? Baseball Prospectus' Jay Jaffe tries to figure out Damon's next destination. Jon Heyman thinks that even as the Yankees and Damon are divorcing, they're also thinking about getting back together. Baseball Prospectus gives a view into the Yankees' two newest OF acquisitions: Winn and Greg Golson
- The guys who replaced Johnny Damon? NYDN's Jesse Spector thinks that Winn is a win. Jay at Fack Youk says that Reed Johnson chose his goatee over the Yankees. Big League Stew's Alex Remington thinks that Granderson will be fine for the Yankees as long as they limit his exposure vs. lefties.
- Ross at New Stadium Insider has a pretty amazing exchange between the Yankees a former season ticket holder who wasn't happy about Randy Winn or any of the Yankees moves. He follows it up with an interview with the scorned fellow.
- LoHud's Sam Borden quotes Brian Cashman saying that the Hideki Matsui deal was one of his best. It was still a lot of money, but Matsui did everything the Yankees could have asked of him in the Bronx.
