Running Series: Yankee Stadium Deconstruction Update 3/28/10

The upper deck of the Old Yankee Stadium has now been completely removed.  Thanks to Craig Calcaterra of Hardball Talk, you can see the final section of the upper deck come down.  (Fast forward to the 1:00 mark)

Believe it or not, there is a silver lining to this generally depressing aspect of the deconstruction process.  With the upper deck removed, you can really see the resemblance of Yankee Stadium II (i.e. post-1976) to Yankee Stadium I (i.e., 1923-1973).  The outer walls really look like the original building, and they also look like the "replica" that currently stands next door.  You can see it pretty clearly in the photos below, which were taken (as always) by Tom Kaminski in Chopper 880.
