Big Money Contracts to CC and AJ Had a Reason
As Jayson Stark points out, the free agent pitching class coming out this year is really, really thin (the whole free agent class is, to be honest). There's a reason the Yankees shelled out a lot of money to A.J. Burnett and CC Sabathia: they weren't going to spend it this summer. They will have to find one more starter for their rotation but they can either bring back Pettitte or find a starter on cheap/a salary dump to fill that last spot. Good move by Brian Cashman.
