One of my favorite parts of summertime in New York City is the Bryant Park Summer Film Festival. Sponsored by HBO (and I guess this year by Time Warner Cable), every Monday night they have a free movie in Bryant Park. It's always an oldie and a classic. This year is a stellar group of movies, once again. It really is an awesome thing to do. You get a group, have someone set up blankets at 5 PM, everyone joins and picnics with wine and pizza and good cheer, and then, when the sun sets, the movie begins. It always begins with a Looney Toons cartoon and the old HBO movie theme which gets everyone in the mood. I remember the first time I came, I saw Rear Window. Everyone in the crowd was yelling "watch out" or "turn around" during the thrilling scenes. I've also seen such movies as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Young Frankenstein, Dial M For Murder, Stalag 17 and many others.
Below is the list of movies for this summer. The first one, The Sting, is a great movie I would recommend seeing. I'm also excited to check out Dog Day Afternoon and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. If you have any other suggestions of movies to see, please post them in the comments section below.
