It was a wild won. Very interesting with all the manager actions. Hind sight looks very wise to have started Hughes. Ballsy steals by the Sox (although i could probably steal second on Mo and Jorge), then a very ballsy move to have Nunez steal third, it changed the way Papelbon had to pitch to A-Rod, a fly ball would have tied it. I admit to being very pleased when Okajima was coming out of the pen. Without looking I am sure the Boston press is blasting Francona for not going to Bard who he said was available. Now Yanks need to finish strong and get that home field.
ReplyDeleteI also do not get Bard not coming into that game last night. That was the Red Sox season and they left their best reliever in the bullpen. I asked a friend who is a Sox fan and he didn't understand it (Bard had thrown the day before but Francona was ready to bring him in the 8th inning if necessary so why not the 10th).
ReplyDeleteI'll certainly take it, though and hope that this is the springboard the Yankees need to finish strong. Remember, 1998 and 2000 they had bad Septembers and turned it around just in time. So hopefully they can do the same in 2010
There are few things as depressing as a walk-off walk for a loss.
