VERY Good News for the Giants (and poll results)

And you thought I was kidding by saying there was good news for the Giants? Here's what happened this weekend:

  • The Chicago Bears could have tied the Giants at 5-4 if they won. They lost and are now 4-5 and looking like they may be out of the playoff picture
  • The Atlanta Falcons could have gone to 6-3 if they won. They lost, fell to 5-4 and now the Giants can overtake them with a win next Sunday. Michael Turner also left the game with an ankle injury right before they came to play the Giants.
  • The Philadelphia Eagles could have gone to 6-3 if they won. The lost and fell to 5-4. Next week they play the Bears in Chicago.
  • The Dallas Cowboys could have extended their division lead if they won and gone to 7-2. They lost, fell to 6-3 and left the Giants only one game behind the Cowboys for the division lead. Dallas also suffered a bunch of big injuries a week before they play a resurgent Washington Redskins team.
  • The Giants had a week to rest, get players back from injury, and will be playing at home against the Falcons with a chance to jump right back into the playoff picture and maybe even the division lead.
Not bad for a team that a week ago seemed to be left for dead. Let's look at the poll results:

Who Will Make The Playoffs From the NFC? (select 6 teams)
New Orleans Saints (8-0)
94%

Minnesota Vikings (7-1)
94%

Dallas Cowboys (6-2)
72%

Atlanta Falcons (5-3)
66%

Philadelphia Eagles (5-3)
83%

Arizona Cardinals (5-3)
 77%

New York Giants (5-4)
 77%

Green Bay Packers (4-4)
 22%

Chicago Bears (4-4)
  5%

San Francisco 49ers (3-5)
  5%

We'll relist the group and see how you feel now that the Giants look like they're in an even better position. Vote on the right (I'm removed the Vikings and Saints since they seem to have their divisions wrapped up at this point).
