11 walk-off wins. That's the total for Joe Girardi and Joe Torre this season. Each has had an amazing 11 walk-off wins. The Yankees' total is their most since 1988. To put this in perspective, you can only have a walk-off win at home, so the Yankees have won 11 of their 41 home games via walk-off. That's almost 27%.
The Dodgers? They've only won 36 games at home. That's over 30% of their home wins via the walk-off.
Each team has only had 3 walk-off losses.
According to Baseball-Reference's Play Index, the Yankees have had 37 of their 71 wins via the comeback (over 52%). The Dodgers 31 out of their 69 wins have come via the comeback (almost 45%).
For all the early talk about how porous/poor the Yankees bullpen was, they're 46-3 when leading after 5 innings and 46-1 when leading after 6. And if they're tied going into the 8th inning, bet on the Yankees: they're 12-0 when tied after 7.
It would be really, really interesting if these teams faced each other in the World Series. The odds say that in a seven game series, you're probably going to see a pie.
I Love It For The Yankees (My Favorite Team of 2009)
