NBA Draft Moving from NYC to NJ

Garden State FTW!  On the heels of Andrew's email to me earlier today, in which he (smugly) indicated that the New Jersey Nets lost $64 million in FY 2009, we have just learned that the NBA draft is moving from NYC to Newark.
Scenes like this will soon be taking place in New Jersey.
The draft will be held at the Prudential Center (the new two-year home of the Nets, baby!) in June 2011.  The draft had been held in Manhattan every year since 2001.  Expect the announcement from NBA Commissioner David Stern tonight before the Nets' season opener in Newark vs. Detroit.

New York Athletes Have No Class

We wrote about Alex Rodriguez making out with Kate Hudson at Mustang Grill. Now, following A-Rod and K-Hud's classiness there's this from the New York Post:
HILARY Rhoda isn't just a football fan -- she's also a hockey fan. Having dated new Jet QB Marc Sanchez (after posing with him in GQ and helping him celebrate his $50 million contract), the curvy brunette looked very cozy with Ranger Sean Avery last night at Brother Jimmy's in Murray Hill. "They were doing shots of Jack Daniels and Patron, and she had her hands on his arm as they canoodled at the corner of the bar," said our spy. "Sanchez was nowhere to be found."
Are you serious? Brother Jimmy's in Murray Hill? Last Monday I did their special: $20 for all you can eat wings and rib tips and all you can drink Bud and Bud Light. This Monday Sean Avery is making out with a hot woman in the corner.

I give up. This place is known for having cheap PBR.

At least Sean Avery swiped the girl from another athlete; A-Rod is dating someone who once moved in with a guy from Punk'd

Keep it classy, New York athletes.

Yankees Games To Be Available Online In NYC...Maybe

Well this is a nice step forward, though I'm very curious what the fee will be. Oh yes, one other problem, you can't get Cablevision in Manhattan. Just a little problem there. I'm hoping that it's just a partnership and not the offering company. From Sporting News:
The Yankees will become the first major league team to have games streamed live online in their home market, according to SportsBusiness Daily, a sister publication of Sporting News.

Cablevision TV and broadband customers on a tier with access to the YES Network could, for an additional fee, see the games online by the end of this season, SBD reports.

Currently, fans can watch out-of-market games online through MLB.TV. Teams have wanted to stream games in their own markets, but there have been several sticking points, such as where the games would be hosted on the web, whether there would be a subscription fee and how revenue would be shared among clubs and MLB.

MLB hopes the deal between YES and Cablevision will break the in-market online streaming logjam and lead to similar deals in other markets, according to the report.

Jack Bauer - errr I Mean Keifer Sutherland's legal issues

From Defamer -

Not to be confused with Jack's senate hearings after turning himself in from earlier this season on 24: Redemption, Keifer will be handing himself over to the police after head butting (?!?!) designer Jack McCollough in SubMercer earlier this week.

This could be seen in violation of his 2nd DUI parole and cause a delay in shooting season 8 of 24.

At least we know he knows how to get himself out of tight situations.
