Yankees Games To Be Available Online In NYC...Maybe

Well this is a nice step forward, though I'm very curious what the fee will be. Oh yes, one other problem, you can't get Cablevision in Manhattan. Just a little problem there. I'm hoping that it's just a partnership and not the offering company. From Sporting News:
The Yankees will become the first major league team to have games streamed live online in their home market, according to SportsBusiness Daily, a sister publication of Sporting News.

Cablevision TV and broadband customers on a tier with access to the YES Network could, for an additional fee, see the games online by the end of this season, SBD reports.

Currently, fans can watch out-of-market games online through MLB.TV. Teams have wanted to stream games in their own markets, but there have been several sticking points, such as where the games would be hosted on the web, whether there would be a subscription fee and how revenue would be shared among clubs and MLB.

MLB hopes the deal between YES and Cablevision will break the in-market online streaming logjam and lead to similar deals in other markets, according to the report.

Welcome to NY NY Sports Sports

I have to say I love these SNY commercials. Street & Smith's Sports Business Journal takes a look at how the commercial spots have taken a faux sports store and sold local rivalries for a channel that most people (including me) just think of as a Mets only channel. I'm just interested in the humor so I've listed them in the order of their funniness.

1. Lessons Learned. It keeps on getting better and better until the lesson learned about the cups near the bathroom. Amazing. The first one I saw and the best one to date.

2. Keith Day. Gotta love the mustache and Keith does a great job in this spot. Strange for a spot that's trying to be universal New York spots to use a Mets personality, but Keith was on Seinfeld, so it's all good.

3. Cable guy. Seems very similar at the beginning to the Verizon Fios commercials but this is just so much more funny. Interesting that it's pretty Mets-centric like the last one, but it seems to drive the point home they're trying to make about SNY.

4. Charades. The weakest of the four commercials, but still funny. The charade for the Devil is pretty awesome.

Agree with my order? Your thoughts on the best?

EW Exclusive: '24' moving to New York!

Jack Bauer has taken on LA and now DC. But Ausiello is reporting that next season he'll take on NY! Love that Chloe is going to be back! Love that CTU is going to be back! And love that Jack will be back and ending things in NY. Also, one other person is joining the cast:

Slumdog Millionaire's smarmy game show host, Anil Kapoor, is joining the cast as Arman Hashemi, a Middle Eastern leader on a peacemaking mission in the U.S. Casting is underway for the roles of his brother and wife.

He seems like he'll be a great character as well. I'm excited for the rest of this season, but I'm also pretty pumped for 24 Season 8 in NYC.
