You Can Get With This Or You Can Get With That Week 13

Get with Sam Bradford not With Matt Ryan

The Atlanta Falcons are a perfect 6 and 0 at home. Unfortunately this week they are away, playing in Tampa, their division rival. When Tampa came to Atlanta earlier this year, Ryan was efficient as he threw for 235 yards and 1 TD, solid numbers but not spectacular. I think those numbers take a dip now that the Falcons are away. The Bucs are good against the pass and I think Ryan is going to have to take more chances with the football to try and beat the upstart Bucs.

Sam Bradford is having a spectacular rookie season and I think that continues this week against the Cardinals. In Bradford’s first game as a pro he played Arizona and was able to compile 250 yards and 1 TD, but he also threw 3 picks. Bradford has grown up a lot since then. Even though he doesn’t have a lot to throw to, I like his chances against the league’s 25th ranked pass defense. The wiser Bradford isn’t as careless with the ball this week as his strong season continues.

Get with Ahmad Bradshaw not with Rashard Mendenhall

Mendenhall had a whopping 36 carries last week against the Bills of Buffalo. This week against a Ravens Defense that is still tough against the run, Mendenhall is going to wish he had fresher legs. When these teams played earlier this year it took Mendenhall 25 carries to get to 79 yards, but he did get in the endzone twice. I think the running will be equally as tough this week, and he will get fewer opportunities with Big Ben back in the lineup.

I think Jacob’s being named the “starter” has taken too much value away from Bradshaw. They still basically split touches last week, and I think the increase in Jacob’s load had more to do with Giant’s injuries to their receivers and left tackles than anything else. With their current lineup the Giants will have to run the ball effectively to gain yards, and Bradshaw is by far the most explosive runner they have. He was also involved in the passing game last week with 34 yards receiving. Bradshaw served his time last week for his fumbles, sitting out the first drive. Against the 26th ranked rush defense of the Redskins, I think he has a very nice day.

Get with Mike Williams (South) not with Miles Austin

Miles Austin has 4 TD’s over the past 4 games. However, he has one 3 catch game and three 2 catch games over that time period. Austin is finding the endzone, but Kitna is not really finding Austin on a consistent basis. It will be hard for Austin to keep scoring if he’s not getting the ball in his hands on a regularly. In addition, Austin is playing the Colts who are 6th in the league against the pass and play a cover 2 style that limits big passing plays.

Now that the Tampa Bay Mike Williams has had a couple weeks to put his off-field shenanigans behind him, I think he will get back on track against the Falcons this week. When they played just a few weeks ago, Williams had 90 yards and a TD. The Falcons are not a good team at defending the pass, and Williams is the Bucs best option through the air.
