Fox and Friends, Please Stop Talking About Baseball

Fox and Friends is a show that has been reduced to nothing more than a clip producer for The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, but at least they've dabbled in areas that I have a passing interest in but don't care a ton about like politics and Hooters. They shove vacuum cleaners in babies faces and once in a while compare Jimmy Buffett to Hugo Chavez. They even compared themselves to being the President once (and got an awesome reaction from Mr. Stewart). Hardy har har. Now, though, they've inserted themselves into the role of baseball experts. Screw you, Fox and Friends (if the video doesn't work on the blog, click here to watch it):

Yuck, yuck, yuck. I mean the assumption is not one that most of America hasn't made already, but them doing it makes it even more annoying in my book. It, of course, has nothing to do with teams focusing more on defensive efficiency and sacrificing offense or teams focusing on developing young pitching or better advanced scouting or any one of the myriad of choices out there (Baseball Prospectus' Jay Jaffe had some ideas, too). Call of the search, though: it's steroids. Thank you, Fox and Friends, for solving that mystery and making us all dumber in the process. What can I truly expect, though, from the same parent company that still employs Tim McCarver?

Jon Stewart Takes On Lenny Dykstra and Jim Cramer

I just finished watching the DVR'ed Daily Show. Knowing what a big Mets fan Jon Stewart is, this must have been somewhat painful for him. But then again, Jon Stewart is used to dealing with pain with the Mets this year and it's really ridiculous stuff (which I talked about earlier). Without further ado, here's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart taking on Lenny Dykstra and his financial advice/complete downfall...all to get to one man:

Amazing job putting Jim Cramer in there. Jon Stewart has made Jim Cramer his bitch this year (and rightfully so), so it was a good way to ease off his ridicule of his favorite player. Actually, I'm pretty sure that he just used Dykstra to get to Cramer. Well done, Mr. Stewart. Very, very well done.

As for Lenny Dykstra...well, I guess he could sign up to be the poster child for what steroids does to your brain long-term ("He thought someone gave him the sign to steal" was the best...).

Pre-LOST Links (and Videos)

Some good links before I sit down to watch LOST

-John Buccigross goes through a Mount Rushmore of every NHL team. I may put Gilbert on there for the Rangers, but I really can't complain.

-Baseball Musings goes over the recent Miguel Tejada guilty plea and wonders if it could lead to deportation

-Ken Rosenthal goes over the lefty reliever market and sees that there are a lot left (as well as second basemen). I wondered at the time if the Yankees should have let Marte go and tried to get a draft pick, but it looks like they woudn't have gotten a pick...but they may have saved some money. Let's hope Marte is a little better than he showed last year.

-The election is done, but Ben Smith shows that Moveon.org is not done bashing Republicans, especially when they make really selfish, stupid and hypocrtical decisions. Awesome!

-First Read shows that you may not want to be the person who responds to the State of the Union...

-Freakonomics asks who would be stupid enough to answer yes to these questions (and why I love questions like this)

-Blogging the Bombers has some info on Jesus Montero and some other of the younger Yankees

-According to this report, teenagers spend 31 hours a week online and 2 hours looking at porn...oh to be a teenager again!

-Roberto Alomar's life gets worse...hopefully those weren't steroids needles

-Doc Jensen on "Lost" time travel anxiety

-Rangers vs. Ovechkin going on right now (4-4)

-Ann Coulter under investigation

-Rihanna and Chris Brown saga gets even crazier

-Sounds like my regular Sunday drive

-Surprised that Madoff got his wife's money out?

-The website for Ted's love interest on "Scrubs"

-More "sexting" (damn...to be young again), this time in Falmouth.

-Former Caterpillar employees may come back if the stimulus passes.

-Someone else agrees that Abreu has "hit the wall" defensively (such a good pun)

-Daily Show to the White House. Love John Oliver and excited for this.

-And I love when Jon Stewart rips Bill O'Reilly:

Why Are The Rangers On MSG2?

Since I got an HDTV, I'm used to watching everyone show in High Definition. The rare shows that aren't in HD are at least digital (like the Daily Show, the Colbert Report, the Girl Next Door, and the Soup)...

But I'm watching the Rangers right now in analog. It's not even digital. I couldn't even find them on TV because they're playing on the TV Guide Channel. The f'ing TV Guide Channel.

There's no respect in the analog MSG2 TV Guide Channel.
